To ensure market leading quality, EXEDY utilises its 3 core technologies, Friction, Vibration and Fluid Dynamics. The combination of these technologies has ensured EXEDY is renowned globally for manufacturing excellent products.
Dry Type Clutch Facing:
EXEDY has reduced material requirements to make an environmentally friendly friction disc by improving the process of applying the resin and rubber to the glass fibre, the usage of solvent is 1/10 from the previous product.
In 2007 EXEDY perfected a process that includes recycled material from various manufacturing processes into its friction disc without compromising on quality & performance standards. This simple step helps reduce the dependency on raw materials.
Squashed Torque Converter:
By creating the Squashed Torque Converter, EXEDY achieved its aim to create a compact and lightweight product that improves fuel efficiency. Utilising Fluid Dynamic Technology, EXEDY succeeded in creating a compact and capable fluid element to the Torque Converter and achieved in tests lower fuel consumption compared to similar products.
Pull Type Cover:
Ordinary clutch covers are designed to push for disengagement, Exedys patented pull type cover does the opposite. The Pull type clutch cover accommodates higher torque, in conjunction with lighter pedal efforts to produce a superior clutch operation. It is particularly effective for high powered vehicle applications.
Peak Cut Cover:
The peak cut cover was designed to minimize the pedal effort increase by wear, and provide longer life by design. The peak cut cover is mainly used by Taxi & Commercial vehicles.
LPEC stands for Light Pedal Effort Cover, and is used to relieve pedal effort in vehicles where higher engine torque requires an increased pedal effort. The LPEC cover was designed to reduce the pedal effort when engaging the clutch throughout the clutches life. The LPEC design reduces the release load compared to conventional clutch covers by increasing the lever ratio. The rigidity of the components has been increased to maintain disengagement performance.
Lever Type Clutch Cover:
The Lever Type Clutch Cover is designed with push lever arms for clutch disengagement. This design is suited, and made for large vehicles such as trucks and buses.
Silent Type Disc:
Exedy's silent type disc has been cleverly designed, utilising technology to reduce gear noise caused at acceleration, deceleration and idling. On acceleration it is possible to reduce gear rattle for front wheel drive vehicles by controlling it with low torsional rigidity and high hysteresis torque. At deceleration it is possible to move the resonance frequency point to lower engine rotational speed which makes smaller rotational fluctuation. On idle it is possible to improve the gear rattle by low torsional rigidity and low hysteresis torque.
WAD (Wide Angled Damper) discs are designed to correspond with high engine fluctuation in diesel and direct injection applications, the WAD uses high performance damper technology to absorb noise and vibration.
Dual Mass Flywheel:
The Dual Mass Flywheel was designed by EXEDY for applications with high torque engines, used commonly when engine size has been reduced. The Dual Mass Flywheel secures damping functionality at low speeds in order to reduce CO2 emissions and increase gas mileage.
The features of the dual mass flywheel are:
- To decrease the harshness of operation and sound of transmission gear rattle.
- To secure strength at low resonance speed.
- To decrease the sound of the damper operation.
- Secure pressure plate lift.
- Improvement of engine start at low temperature.
- Water & dust proof.
Damper with Torque Limiter:
The Damper with Torque Limiter is designed specifically for hybrid technology. The features of the damper are:
- To protect the transmission and components from the excessive input torque created by the resonance vibration from the engine.
- To reduce the vibration at engine Start / Stop.
- To reduce the noise from the transmission caused by engine fluctuation during driving such as increased noise when accelerating quickly.
The structure of the Damper with Torque Limiter is a patented combination of EXEDY original AC/DC mechanism with wide angled low rigidity damper & torque limiting mechanism.
